Our group AGG - Ameristar Gamers Group - has its own discord server to keep in touch most of the time, if and when we have the chance and the opportunity to chat.
Join us on discord, it's easy and it's encouraged, as this is how we can keep in touch and talk outside Eve.
Not to mention, quite often, maybe more than it should, the in-word Eve chat servers are not working, or kicking us out for a limited period of time, until whatever the problem may be on their end is solved.
As such, for a quick chat via text-IMs and/or voice our discord server is ideal.
Also for fleet operations, especially for complex feet operations when we need to organize fast defense or a complex multi-stage synchronized attack against our rivals or enemies, especially during wartime, then using voice over typing is just faster and more convenient for the information flow between fleet mates.
You don't have to in fact use voice, or even have the microphone active, to hear the commands of the Fleet Commander during fleet operations, if the voice is to be used by the Fleet Commander.
